Slowd is a platform that believes in genuine "zero kilometre" design, bringing together emerging designers, artisans and customers. The projects of selected designers are uploaded to the site, customers place their orders and the artisan closest to the customer creates the finished piece.
The profound expertise of the quality craftsman is networked with the most talented emerging designers, resulting in a peer-to-peer network of projects.
Slowd's mission is to make quality design at affordable prices available for everyone, redefining the quality of our finest craftsmen through the ideas of the best emerging designers, inventing an unprecedented and wholly sustainable supply chain.
The team consists of Andrea Cattabriga (31), an architecture graduate with a passion for communication, and Sebastiano Longaretti (33), an artist, designer and architect.
The project was presented at Fuorisalone 2012 where it received excellent feedback and featured in major publications (e.g. Wired Italy).
The site is functional, the network of artisans and designers is expanding, and it is already possible to make purchases.
Slowd participated in the Startup Fair organised by Nova - Il Sole 24 Ore.
