Playedo

Playedo is a startup that produces and sells Edo, giant cardboard bricks.

Playedo bricks are delivered flat in cardboard sheets, but once assembled they become cardboard building bricks, basically like gigantic Lego.

Edo bricks have two main functions:

  • they were designed as children's toys: innovative, ecological, Montessorian and because of their size and the fact that they lend themselves to full-size construction, extremely entertaining and stimulating.
  •
  • they are also wholly functional: the large bricks can be used to build furniture and stalls for trade fairs, special events and scenery.

Playedo was founded by a brother and sister team: Simon Marussi, a graduate in Computer Science at the University of Bologna, is a founding member and current single administrator of a digital agency (extera.com) with a team of 16 people; and Lisa Marussi, a copywriter and creative director with 20 years' experience in leading international advertising agencies (Ogilvy, FCB, Leo Burnett).

Edo is already sold both as a toy and as a design object in Europe. It is patented and Playedo is a registered trademark.

The Edo project was launched on Kickstarter in October 2016 and successfully received its required funding of €40,000.

It has received licensing requests from different countries (Australia, India, Chile, Peru) and distribution requests within Europe.
