In vitro cell cultivation is a widely applied technology worldwide in the fields of pharmacology, cosmetics, diagnostics, and research, normally using foetal bovine serum (FBS) as a nutrition source. However, its use is subject to the limitations of high and constantly rising costs, and some ethical issues since the production process is mainly based outside of the European continent.

Born to Bake Academy emerged from an idea of Francesco Gigliotti, a professional caterer, with the direct involvement of researchers at the University of Bologna, Agricultural Faculty, and entrepreneurs from the agricultural world.

Welly is an innovative startup with the objective of reinventing the food delivery world in the spirit of sustainability. With our experience analysing the carbon footprint of foodstuffs, we are able to offer restaurants simple digital solutions for calculating the environmental impact of their menu and enable compensations through the most important European foundations.

AgroMateriae was established after three years of research in the laboratories of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where excellent experimental results led to submission of a patent application for WPL (2019). Hipert SRL is a spin-off from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy.
