Smart Specialisation Strategy
NEEDO is an on-demand nursery school that can be set up anywhere for any period of time in response to the needs of families, companies, or small communities. The aim is to help reconcile home and work schedules and female employment.
It is an educational service that puts together a complete package of services: an enclosed space (making use of regenerated marine containers from a circular-economy perspective), a sustainable approach, educational design, trained and qualified teachers, canteen, and all services.
NEEDO is innovative in various ways:
- It is on-demand and operates on behalf of public welfare.
- It can easily be moved by road, boat, or train.
- It is modular, customizable, easy to transport, antiseismic, and eco-sustainable thanks to the creative reuse of suitably insulated decommissioned maritime containers.
- The service can meet temporary demands without being too binding and invasive. Once its mission is complete, it is loaded up and taken back to base or the next destination, avoiding the creation of dilapidated structures that generate costs for local authorities.
- It will soon be provided with a platform that will allow users to customize their own service package.
- It ensures flexible hours according to the needs of users.
- Its modular design means that it can also be used as a creative space (studio) to support existing facilities, offering a widely varied range of options.
On the strength of a contribution from the Unicredit Foundation, NEEDO is preparing a launch event to present their first prototype.
An all female concept:
- Vanessa Boccia - Founder and CEO, interior designer.
- Elisa Lombi - Educational Coordinator.
