In vitro cell cultivation is a widely applied technology worldwide in the fields of pharmacology, cosmetics, diagnostics, and research, normally using foetal bovine serum (FBS) as a nutrition source. However, its use is subject to the limitations of high and constantly rising costs, and some ethical issues since the production process is mainly based outside of the European continent.

The company was founded in 2017 from the idea of a pool of engineers with over 15 years of direct experience in the wholesale energy and environmental markets. Its primary mission is to spread and uphold the policies of environmental sustainability though research, development, and the spread of innovative solutions (not only technological) addressing both energy consumers and operators.

We supply patented floating systems designed to support photovoltaic solar panels for the creation of floating photovoltaic plants on dams, water reservoirs, hydroelectric plants, quarries, and any other body of water (fresh or salt) with the exclusion of the open sea. We also design and develop anchorage systems, enabling us to deliver turnkey floating photovoltaic plants.

Approximately 11 bn tons of waste are produced in the world each year, only 25% is reused or recycled. In Italy, special waste produced by businesses stands at about 154 mln tons (source: ISPRA, 2019).

AgroMateriae was established after three years of research in the laboratories of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where excellent experimental results led to submission of a patent application for WPL (2019). It was accredited as an innovative startup by the University of Modena, with the objective of ramping up the technology to an industrial scale.
